Her Royal Highness officially opened The Lakes Distillery in 2015, and has since returned in 2022, where she met with the whisky-making team. The Princess Royal decided to donate six bottles to support The Chaffinch Trust in their work drawing together groups of people working in disadvantaged areas.

The Chaffinch Trust (Scottish Charity No SC043561) is a registered charity established in Scotland in 2012 by Ben Goss with the aim of encouraging communication and collaboration amongst organisations and individuals in order to develop initiatives and projects that support and encourage those living in areas of disadvantage.

It addresses the challenges these communities face because of poverty and lack of opportunity and builds on the energy and commitment of those in existing groups to create local, national and international partnerships.

HRH The Princess Royal is Patron of the charity.

The first two bottles, numbers 67 and 68, will be auctioned in the Whisky.Auction January Whisky & Spirits Auction from 7-16 January. Bottles number 69 and 70 will follow in the February Auction with the final two bottles being sold later in the year.
